Hi, I’m Tony, owner of Inlet Services here in Portsmouth, VA. When Chad reached out to us, he was dealing with a dryer that just wouldn’t dry — and trust me, he’d already tried everything. He had just bought a brand-new dryer as a Christmas surprise for his wife. But the excitement quickly turned to frustration when even the new machine wouldn’t dry their clothes properly. That’s where we stepped in. If you’re dealing with long drying times or a dryer that’s overheating, we can help just like we helped Chad.

Here’s Chad’s Story

Chad was genuinely confused and frustrated. After replacing their old dryer with a new one — expecting fast, fresh laundry results — it still took two full cycles to get towels even halfway dry. He figured maybe the dryer was defective again… but something didn’t add up. That’s when he suspected the issue might be lurking deeper — in the vent system.

What We Found Before the Work Started

When we arrived at Chad’s home near Victory Boulevard in Portsmouth, we did what we always do first — we listened. We heard his full story and then got to work with our inspection gear.

We used a borescope camera — think of it like a plumber’s snake with eyes — to peer deep inside the dryer vent line. It didn’t take long to find the real culprit: about three feet in, there was a massive lint clog jammed in a tight bend of the vent duct.

Imagine a clogged artery. The dryer was doing its job, but all the air — and heat — was bottlenecked at that blockage. Just like blood pressure builds in a blocked vein, that dryer was working twice as hard with nowhere to go.

And to make matters worse? All that lint buildup is a serious fire hazard waiting to happen.

How We Solved the Dryer Vent Problem

With the clog located, we carefully used our specialized dryer vent tools to break up and extract the lint mass — think of pulling a hairball from a drain. It was packed tight, likely the result of years of accumulated lint from the previous dryer combined with poor airflow angles in the duct system.

We didn’t stop at the blockage, though. We cleaned out the full length of the vent line and vacuumed behind the dryer, removing all the loose lint and dust buildup.

We also double-checked the airflow by running a pressure test and inspecting the vent cap outside.

The Amazing Results: A Safer, Faster Dryer

The difference was night and day.

🕐 Before: Drying towels took over 90 minutes — sometimes even a second cycle.
🕑 After: The same load was bone-dry in just 35 minutes.
That’s over 60% faster drying time.

Not only was the new dryer finally working the way it was meant to — but now it was also running safely and much more energy efficiently.

And the best part? Chad’s wife was thrilled her Christmas gift finally worked as expected. (That’s what we call a win-win in the laundry room.)

And What Does Chad Think?

Chad was honestly relieved. Here’s what he had to say right after the job:

“I was about to return our brand-new dryer, thinking it was a lemon. Turns out, the problem wasn’t the machine at all — it was the vent. Tony and his team at Inlet Services found the issue fast, explained everything clearly, and got it fixed the same day. My wife’s thrilled, and I don’t have to keep resetting the dryer. Highly recommend them!”
